Dhaka, May 31, 2025 – If a fair election is held under a neutral caretaker government next December, BNP will win more than two-thirds of the seats, BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has expressed his strong optimism. He also reiterated that BNP will not participate in any election under the current government.

He made these remarks while addressing a memorial meeting and prayer meeting as the chief guest at the National Press Club on Friday (May 31) afternoon. The meeting was organized to mark the second death anniversary of veteran journalist, freedom fighter and former convener of the Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad, Ruhul Amin Gazi.

Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, "BNP will not go to any more elections under the current government. If elections are held under a neutral caretaker government in December, then BNP will win more than two-thirds of the seats with the spontaneous participation of the people, InshaAllah."

He also said, "The people are with us. The country and nation are on the verge of destruction. The economy has been destroyed, there is no democracy, the people's right to vote has been taken away. In such a situation, we trust the people, if they can vote, they will make BNP win by a huge margin."

Criticizing the government, this senior BNP leader said, "This government does not have the mandate of the people. They have seized power by voting day and night. Therefore, the people of the country want a change in this government. And elections under a neutral government are essential for this change."

Mirza Abbas, another member of the BNP standing committee, also strongly criticized the government at the event. He said, "We want to make it clear that BNP will not go to any election under this illegal government. If the government really wants to ensure the people's voting rights, then it will be forced to hold elections under a non-partisan caretaker government."

Reminiscing about veteran journalist Ruhul Amin Gazi, Dr. Mosharraf said, "Ruhul Amin Gazi was a fearless journalist and patriot. He fought till his death for the establishment of democracy and people's rights. The void of a personality like him cannot be filled."

It is clear from the statements of these BNP leaders that they are adamant in their demand for elections under a caretaker government by boycotting the elections under the current government. They believe that if there is a fair election, the people will give BNP a landslide victory and democracy will return to the country.
