Russia could attack NATO countries within the next four years, German Army Chief General Carsten Breuer has warned. In a recent speech, he said that Russia is stockpiling huge amounts of weapons for the Western Front in addition to the ongoing war in Ukraine. He said that Moscow is producing about 1,500 battle tanks and millions of artillery shells a year, most of which are not for the war in Ukraine.

Breuer expressed particular concern about the Suwalki Gap. This corridor is a direct connection between Poland and Lithuania, and between Russia's Kaliningrad and Belarus. This region is now considered the most dangerous spot in Europe. Breuer said that even though analysts are talking about 2029, the possibility of an attack cannot be ruled out.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius had also expressed similar fears earlier. He said that the war is likely to start within 5-8 years and Europe must prepare for it now.

Meanwhile, NATO has offered Germany seven more brigades (about 40,000 troops), a huge strain on the German military's capabilities. Germany has already approved its largest military budget in history—400 billion euros.

This situation has raised new concerns about security and Russian activity across Europe.
