Good news for cricket fans! Like the Club World Cup in football, the Club World Cup is also going to be launched in cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has said that they are planning to organize a global club championship, where the best franchise teams in the world will face each other.
ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould said, "This is the need of the hour. There should be a global club championship in both men's and women's categories." Although the plan is in its early stages, discussions are underway with various boards and franchises to implement it.
Discussions have already started on the possible structure of this tournament. A global competition is being considered with the top teams of the IPL, Big Bash, CPL, PSL, LPL and other franchise leagues. This will further increase the popularity of franchise cricket and create new excitement for the audience.
However, the success of this initiative will largely depend on the support of various franchises and boards. In particular, the IPL will need the support of at least eight of the 10 teams, as many teams are already involved in team ownership in foreign leagues.
Although a specific schedule or venue has not yet been decided, many in the cricket world have welcomed the initiative. They believe that it will take cricket to a more global scale and further increase the popularity of the game.
