Karin Jean-Pierre is now independent: New book details Biden's withdrawal and Democratic Party's 'betrayal'

Dhaka, June 5, 2025 – Former White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre is leaving the Democratic Party and is now identifying as an independent. The news comes after the announcement of the publication of her new book, "Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines," which is scheduled to be released in October this year.

The book's publisher, Legacy Lit, a division of Hachette Book Group, said in a statement on Wednesday (June 4) that Jean-Pierre is leaving her longtime Democratic Party membership and is now identifying as an independent. "Until January 20, I was the spokesperson for the President of the United States. From that afternoon on, I became an ordinary citizen who, like other Americans and many of our allies around the world, was forced to confront the future of our country." He added, "I have determined that the dangers we face as a country require us to break free from our own boxed-in status. We must be willing to exercise our ability to think creatively and plan strategically."

Jean-Pierre's book is said to contain insider information about Biden's decision not to run for president for a second term and the "betrayal" of the Democratic Party. The publisher said Jean-Pierre will present "clear arguments and provocative evidence from an insider" in his book, highlighting the importance of countering the widespread misinformation and propaganda in recent elections and providing an emotional insight into the future.

Karin Jean-Pierre succeeded Jen Psaki as White House press secretary in May 2022 and served in the position until January 2025. She was the first black woman and the first openly gay person to serve as White House press secretary. He previously served as deputy press secretary in the Biden-Harris administration and as chief of staff to Kamala Harris in the 2020 presidential campaign.

His decision to switch parties and his upcoming book have already sparked widespread debate in political circles. Some see it as an honest political evolution for Jean-Pierre, while others see it as a publicity stunt for his book. Jean-Pierre himself posted about his book on Instagram, urging voters to "think outside the box and think independently."
