New party NCP sees 'New Bangladesh'

The National Citizens Party (NCP) is dreaming of building a 'New Bangladesh'. This goal has recently emerged in their draft constitution. It is learned that the party wants to build a democratic, inclusive and self-reliant state by keeping in mind the historical events of 1947, 1971 and 2024.

The draft constitution of the NCP states that establishing the rule of law, justice and human rights in the country is one of their main goals. They dream of building a 'New Bangladesh' through a youth-based decentralized governance system. Where there will be a strong, participatory and accountable democracy.

The party leaders say that in this new Bangladesh, everyone's freedom of speech, voting rights and freedom of association will be ensured. They want to build a society where the basic rights of education, healthcare and employment will be ensured for every citizen by eliminating economic and social inequality. The NCP has said that it will build an efficient, transparent and corruption-free citizen-based administrative system.

The draft constitution also emphasizes internal party democracy. The party's top leader cannot serve more than three terms and the party chief must be elected through the council every three years. NCP convener Nahid Islam said that the draft constitution will be finalized before June 22, the last day for registration applications with the Election Commission.
