Dhaka, 1 June 2025 – Just two days ago, former national team captain and the country's first Test century batsman Aminul Islam Bulbul took charge as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).1 Upon assuming office, he announced an ambitious 'triple century' plan to take the country's cricket to new heights. He wants to start this new chapter by emphasizing the future structure of the country's cricket and human resource development.

Aminul Islam Bulbul presented his plan to the media after a meeting with Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan at the National Sports Council on Sunday (31 May).2 He said, "We are doing three things, we are saying that we will do 'triple century' - 100% trust, 100% program and 100% reach."

The main aspects of Bulbul's 'triple century' plan are:

1. 100% Trust: Aminul Islam Bulbul wants to gain the trust of everyone inside and outside the board. He wants transparency and accountability to be ensured at every level related to cricket, so that players, coaches, officials, and even ordinary cricket fans can have faith in the board. He is keen to put an end to the various internal controversies of the board in the past and work with everyone.

2. 100% Program: The new president wants to create a specific and effective program for every level of cricket in the country. This will include an integrated framework for talent search, training, and development from the grassroots to the national level. He said, "We want a village boy to play well and come to the upazila... We are paving the way from the upazila to the district, from the district to the division, and from the divisional level to the national level."3

3. 100% Reach: Bulbul wants to spread cricket across the country. His goal is to bring the light of cricket to every corner of the country, not just the city-centric ones. To implement this '100% reach', he wants to strengthen the activities of regional cricket bodies. Regional activities are being started in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chittagong on an experimental basis, which will work as 'mini BCB'. Activities like school cricket and game development will be run locally, not centrally.

Other important initiatives:

Human resource development: Bulbul believes that in addition to producing players, it is important to make coaches, umpires and other cricket-related officials skilled. He also revealed that experienced cricketers like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah are also interested in becoming international coaches. He said that such training and education programs will be run through BCB.

Transparency and good governance: He wants to ensure transparency and good governance in every department. All directors have been asked to give a presentation on the development plan of their department by June 30.

Four new programs: There are also plans to start four new programs under the board, which are: 'Protect the Spirit of the Game', 'High Performance for Everyone', 'Connect and Grow' and 'Transparency and Good Governance in All Areas'.

Aminul Islam Bulbul has a long experience of working in different countries as an ICC Development Manager. Using that experience, he wants to take Bangladesh cricket to new horizons. He feels that through this 'Triple Century' plan, Bangladesh cricket will get a sustainable and strong foundation.
