Mumbai, June 1, 2025 – While there were rumors of a cold war between Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, the warmth of their personal relationship often surprises fans. Recently, Aamir Khan himself revealed an interesting incident, where the mystery of why he did not use a laptop given to him by Shah Rukh Khan has been revealed. The incident was in 1996, when Aamir was extremely reluctant to modern gadgets.
Aamir Khan recently said in an interview that in 1996, he and Shah Rukh Khan went to the US and UK for a show. At that time, Shah Rukh Khan, who has always been tech-friendly and very aware of new gadgets, advised Aamir to buy a laptop. Aamir said that he did not understand anything about technology at that time and did not feel the need to buy a laptop.
Aamir said, "I told Shah Rukh, I do not have a laptop." Shah Rukh then bought a state-of-the-art Toshiba laptop for himself and gifted another laptop of the same model to Aamir. Shahrukh even installed the necessary software on Aamir's laptop himself and explained everything.
But then the real funny thing happened. In Aamir Khan's words, "I am a 'digitally handicapped' person, I am an analogue person." He was so tech-averse that he kept the laptop that Shahrukh had given him in a corner for years, even forgetting that it existed!
Four years later, one day, Aamir's manager saw the laptop lying around and asked him if he could use it. Aamir then asked the manager to use it. But when they tried to turn on the laptop, it stopped working, as it had been unused for a long time and was damaged. Aamir said with a laugh, "I had completely forgotten that I had a laptop. When he showed it to me, I remembered that Shahrukh had given it to me. I asked him to use it. But the laptop didn't even turn on."
This incident, while highlighting the warm relationship between Shah Rukh and Aamir, is also a fun testament to Aamir's aversion to technology and his own 'analogue' lifestyle. While many like to see competition between them, Aamir used this incident to show that there was a personal warmth and respect between the actors of the 90s.
