Dhaka, June 2, 2025 – A different picture is being seen in Bengali cinema around the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Several hotly discussed movies have disappeared from the Eid release list at the last minute, including about five movies starring actress Shabnam Bubli and Yamin Haque Bobby. There are various speculations in the film industry as to why such a sudden decision was taken. While Shakib Khan's 'Tandav' is the main attraction of Eid, the removal of other movies has given rise to various mysteries.
According to a report in Prothom Alo, five movies have been removed from the Eid release list, including Bubli-starring 'Pinik', 'Jungli' and 'Sardarbarir Khela'. On the other hand, the movie 'Shironam' starring Yamin Haque Bobby has also been removed from Eid. In addition, another undisclosed movie has also been dropped from the list at the last minute.
Possible reasons for the removal of the movies:
1. Shooting and post-production pending: 'Shironam' director Anik Biswas said that the work on their film is not yet complete. There are plans to shoot some outside the country. Hero Nirav also said the same. He said that it is not possible to finish the work quickly and release it before Eid by doing editing, sound and music. They have decided not to rush to bring a quality film. The same is being said in the case of 'Pinik', where work is still ongoing.
2. Avoiding the crowd of stars: Many producers are trying to avoid the crowd of big stars like Shakib Khan's films this Eid. They feel that it is difficult to compete with big-budget and big-star films during Eid. Therefore, they are planning to release the film at a later time.
3. Lack of promotion: In the case of some films, it has been seen that despite announcing the release, there was a lack of adequate promotion. Delay in releasing the teaser or trailer, or not being very active on social media can also be a reason for this delay. Many films have not been able to do the kind of promotion that is needed to interest the audience.
4. Censor clearance or technical complications: While some movies like 'Sardarbarir Khela' and 'Tandav' have received censor clearance, some other movies may have last-minute technical glitches or censor complications. In the case of the movie 'Nadaan', the release has reportedly been postponed due to technical problems.
5. Ensuring quality work: Some producers want to take their time to bring a perfect movie to the audience instead of rushing into low-quality work. This is positive for the long-term success of the movie, but disappoints the audience on a big festival like Eid.
6. Impact of Shakib Khan's 'Tandav': This time, Shakib Khan's movie 'Tandav' is ready for release on Eid. The teaser and title song of this movie directed by Raihan Rafi have already created a lot of discussion. Due to the dominance of movies by big stars like Shakib Khan, small or medium budget movies often get delayed.
In this context, the films of popular heroines like Bubli and Bobby have been shifted away from big festivals like Eid, which has created quite a stir among movie lovers. While there may be a logical reason behind this, many viewers are calling this an unexpected development. It is expected that these films will be released after Eid or at some other convenient time.
