NCP Coordination Committee in Dhaka-Panchagarh: Initiative to strengthen organizational base at district and upazila levels

 Dhaka, June 2, 2025 – The newly formed political party National Congress Party (NCP) has formed new coordination committees in 4 upazilas of Dhaka district, Dhaka Metropolitan South and Panchagarh districts to strengthen its organizational base. This is seen as a major step to strengthen the NCP's position at the grassroots level.


The NCP confirmed the formation of these committees through a press release sent to the media yesterday (June 1). The release stated that NCP Central President Md. Akhtaruzzaman and General Secretary Atiqur Rahman approved these committees.


Details of the committees:


1. Dhaka District NCP Coordination Committee:


Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan has been appointed as the convener of the Dhaka District NCP Coordination Committee. Md. Zahid Alam will work with him as the member secretary. This committee will coordinate the activities of NCP at all upazila and thana levels of Dhaka district and work to recruit new members.


2. Dhaka Metropolitan South NCP Coordination Committee:


Md. Mizanur Rahman has been appointed as the convener of the committee formed for Dhaka Metropolitan South. Md. Abdur Rob Khan is the member secretary of this committee. The main goal of this committee is to further accelerate the organizational activities of NCP in Dhaka Metropolitan South.


3. Committees in 4 upazilas of Panchagarh district:


NCP coordination committees have been formed in four upazilas of Panchagarh district. These are:


Sadar Upazila: Convener Md. Abdul Hai and Member Secretary Md. Abdul Kader.


Atwari Upazila: Convener Md. Abdullah and Member Secretary Md. Abdur Rashid.


Bodaganj Upazila: Convener Md. Shafiqul Islam and Member Secretary Md. Mostafa Kamal.


Debiganj Upazila: Convener Md. Abdul Malek and Member Secretary Md. Abdul Jalil.

NCP Central General Secretary Atiqur Rahman said about the formation of the committee, "The main responsibility of the new committees is to organize our party at the district and upazila levels, conduct membership drives and spread the party's policies and ideals among the people. We hope that these committees will play an important role in strengthening the NCP further."


Although the NCP was formed recently, it is trying to create a distinct position for itself in the country's political arena. By forming the new committee, they are making their presence known at the grassroots level and are looking to strengthen the organizational structure before the next national elections.
